LA News -- October 16

Founder's Note

Our children are being raised at a time when the world is clearly growing darker. Yet, He is sovereign. He chose each of them to live in this time. One day there will be a generation on the earth when Christ returns. I pray that this is it! The finish of mortality will come when Christ returns. The Bible says that no man knows the day or hour but we do know that the conditions of the earth will grow darker and darker while a people of God will emerge who will grow brighter and brighter. The light is the most bright in the darkest of times. Instead of worrying or being in fear for the day in which our children are being raised. Let us instead double down in our efforts to put Christ first in our homes, to follow Him with all of our hearts, and to purify our lives of the surrounding culture. Causing our children to be all the more rooted and established in the faith is their security and safety in the challenges ahead!

ACT Testing -- October 17th

8:00am-12:00pm

On Tuesday our 9th-12th graders will take the ACT test. Students will be bringing home information for completing non-test information. It is important that families complete this information in order for their students and colleges to receive ACT scores. Students have already created their myact.org accounts using their school-assigned email addresses and will need parent assistance completing the non-test information.

For questions, parents may contact Ms. Shelton (susan.shelton@legacymail.org).

XC Meet -- October 17th

The bus will leave LA on Tuesday at 12:35 p.m. Students should bring money for dinner on the way home and should also anticipate a late return since the meet is a little over 2 hours away. The address for the meet is 1560 West 6th Street, Waldron, AR 72958.

This is our last meet before the State Finals!

4-H -- October 18th

The first Legacy 4H meeting will be held on October 18th in the cafeteria immediately following school dismissal. Basketball players wanting to attend will be temporarily excused from practice to do so.

Meetings take place every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 3pm in the cafeteria.

Warrior Day & Navy-White Night -- October 20

Warrior Day is here!! This school-wide event lasts all day, and we are in need of volunteers to help things run smoothly. Volunteers will be asked to serve lunch, take photos, monitor games, manage small groups of students, and join in the fun! If you are available to help at any time on this day email Hannah.Wright@legaymail.org or Cynthia.Keterson@legacymail.org.

Navy-White Night--6pm

Festivities will begin in the Gym at 6 p.m. The night will include a fun game between alumni/staff/parents v. the players and we are in need of additional adults to play. If you would like to participate or play in the Alumni/Parent game contact Mrs. Webb (hanna.webb@legacymail.org.)

Ball in the Burg Basketball Tournament -- October 23-24

Monday, October 23rd, we will host our first #BallInTheBurg Invitational. Games start at 4:15 pm the Lady Warriors play the Lady Eagles from Excel Christian at 6:45pm followed by the Warriors against the Eagles at 8pm.

If we win, we will play the championship games on Tuesday at 5:30pm & 7pm.

XC State Meet -- October 27

It's time to start getting ready for the State XC Finals in Siloam Springs on Friday, October 27. The meet kicks off at 9:00 a.m., so to avoid rushing in the morning, we'll be leaving on Thursday 26th at 11:30 a.m. Leaving early will give us enough time to do a run on the course on Thursday evening before dark.

We've arranged accommodations at Camp Siloam for the athletes and coaches. To ensure everyone's comfort and safety, we'll be renting two separate bunkhouses for the girls and guys. The cost will be $25 per person, plus students will also need to bring bedding, towels and toiletries as well as money for meals. The cost for accommodations can be paid through Square and should be done by Monday, October 23rd.

If you are interested in being a parent chaperone and staying in the bunkhouse, please let Mrs. Webb know by Friday. This way, we can have an accurate count of who will be staying there. Keep in mind that if you choose to stay in the bunkhouse, you'll need to bring your own bedding, towels, and toiletries.

We are looking forward to a fun trip! We will have a nice dinner on Thursday evening, followed by games and a campfire at Camp Siloam to commemorate a great season and our pioneers. Go Warriors!
