LA News -- April 22nd

Founder's Note

Spring Formal was a beautiful night. All the guys and ladies looked wonderful, had a ton of fun, and did so in a way that was enjoyable and clean. There is tremendous pressure in the world to conform to it--to become like it and do everything the way it does. As Christians, it is our joy and our calling to be different, set apart for Him and His purposes. God has a beautiful plan for each of our children. They'll find their life and strength in their joyful confidence of being different--being content in Christ, not in trying to be like the world. Let us all work together to cultivate a deep love for God in their hearts. A love that compels them to honor Him and that is so strong that they prefer pleasing Him more than anything the deceitfulness of the world could ever offer them. As the adults in their lives we can encourage and support them in their pursuit of Christ, their confidence in their faith, and their willingness and joy in being different!

Capstone Presentations -- April 25

Our Capstone Presentations are scheduled for Thursday, April 25 at 2:15pm in the LA Auditorium. Friends and family are all invited to attend this to hear the culmination of our senior students' two-year projects. Contact Mr. Ward with any questions.

For those unfamiliar with Legacy's Capstone project, it is a crowning achievement of a student's academic work and a graduation requirement. The goal of the project is for students to demonstrate their ability to make a long-term commitment to a difficult or complex goal and to achieve it. As a classical school, we embrace the three primary stages of learning: Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric. Grammar is the first stage of learning, the gathering of important data and information. Next students move to the Logic phase, learning how all the parts and data work together. Lastly, students must be able to articulate and express what they’ve learned as a master of the topic -- Rhetoric. These stages easily represent knowledge, understanding, and then wisdom.

The Legacy Academy Capstone project should reflect each student’s journey through the three stages and culminate with a presentation or demonstration on the selected topic.

Please come and support these seniors as they present their Capstone Project!

Athletics Banquet -- Tuesday, May 7

Legacy Academy is holding its very first athletics banquet this year. With the expansion of our athletics program to include Cross Country, the athletics award presentation will be taking place separately from our Honor and Awards program. The banquet will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, May 7 in the LA Auditorium

All basketball, track, and cross country athletes from grades 6 to 12 are required to attend and encouraged to invite their families. The evening will include a buffet meal and, as such, we need you to RSVP by May 1 if you will be attending. Please use this form to do so. It's going to be a GREAT night!
