"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." Galatians 6:9
This verse describes so much about our process of holding virtual school for our students during the Covid-19 pandemic. It's been hard on teachers, parents, and students. It's impacted so much in so many ways; yet in the midst of all of it we are all partnering together to make the very best of it we can. I trust that God will guide us through getting it all back on track and help us ensure every student is well taken care in spite of the challenges. It's easy to grow weary or to lose heart--tired, worn out, frustrated. This verse encourages us not to grow weary when we are doing the right thing. God sees and He will help us and bring a harvest for our faithful efforts. Hang in there as we march toward the end of the school year. It's tempting to just slide off and be neglectful at the end. Let's not do that. Let's all Finish strong. Run the final leg the hardest and finish the year with victory!
We also want to thank the families and students who helped Ms. Fisk get the tree off of her house! Lockesburg endured a lot of damage and we are so thankful that no one was injured. The school lost one or two branches on a tree at the old daycare, but otherwise was totally spared from any damage at all.
Why finish the year?
Some have wondered why we keep on going with the school year and why we don't just call it done for the year and start back up next year. We certainly have considered the option. We know that all of our students could be somewhat impacted academically by Covid-19 and the lack of regular school days. It's our goal to mitigate that as much as possible. Let's reduce the impact as much as we can, achieve as much learning as we can for our students and doing so will reduce the additional work necessary over the summer or in the beginning of next school year.
Will we get to return to class this year?
Honestly, we don't know. We are waiting to see what kind of announcement the governor makes regarding his directive on the assembling of 10 or more people. We are would love to be able to return, even if for a couple of weeks to wrap the year up. However, we don't know yet if that will be permitted. However, we are strongly committed to having our first ever graduation, holding our important end of the year Honors program, and having our end of the year water and field day. We will schedule these as soon as we see that we can!
Enrollment Time
It's time to complete your intent to re-enroll form for next year. It has been a tremendous blessing to be on our new campus in Lockesburg. This year we've not only enjoyed the new facilities but have enjoyed some "firsts"--our first pee wee program, first Senior Boys basketball team, first year in our own gym, and soon will hold our first graduation. We know that God has great things in store for our future here on this campus and we are very excited about some of the new programs and activities that will roll out in the coming new year. Please complete your student's intent to re-enroll form here.
Also, talk to families you know who have school age children. We would love to visit with anyone you refer to Legacy Academy! Please help spread the word that we are enrolling for Pre-K and K-12 now!
New Team Members
We will also be hiring some additional teachers for the new year. If you know someone who would make a great team member please send them our way!
This Summer
We are currently working on some plans that will allow us to best serve our students this summer who might need some additional help to be ready for the new school year. We will get back with everyone soon about these plans.
We are also looking to host some basketball camps and workouts this summer. These and other summer activities for our students will be announced before June 1st.
We will also have some important volunteer days to make some improvements on the campus this summer. Please watch your calendar to help with these.
We are very thankful for Legacy Academy and each of your children. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder and we miss each one of them. We cannot wait to hear them in the halls again. Until then, we will work closely with you on their behalf and we will look to God to see us all through. He is our help!
