News -- Week of Nov. 3

Congrats to our boys on winning the Ball in the Burg Invitational!
Congrats to our boys on winning the Ball in the Burg Invitational!

Founder's Note

We've completed one quarter of the school year. It is amazing how quickly time goes by. The old saying feels so true, "The days are long, but the years are short!" I recently attended a dinner for the Arkansas Sheriff's Youth Ranch. It takes children who are troubled or have no place to go and places them in a home. They live in a family setting with house parents and other children. There are multiple homes on site. They talked about resetting and normalizing life for each child meant eliminating screen time if they weren't 16 yet, and tremendously reducing and regulating it if they are 16. They focus on meals together, homework together, and getting the kids involved in multiple activities. The statement was, "They're not in trouble when they're tired!" They especially look for physically challenging activities. Students are involved in farm work, team sports, and other competitions. They're learning discipline, how to work with authority, how to work with others and as a team, and how to face challenges and adversity. The world and technology have changed, but the Biblical values of raising children and common sense are the same as always. It made me think how fortunate we are to have our school community and the opportunity to raise our kids together, working hard and playing hard! Keep at it, parents! The Lord sees you, and we are always praying for you!

Legacy Thanksgiving Celebration | Nov. 21st

Mark your calendars! Our annual Thanksgiving Celebration will be held on Friday, November 21st at 11:00 a.m.This is one of our favorite Legacy traditions—a time for our students, staff, and families to gather and give thanks together.

To make this special event possible, we’ll need everyone’s help!

  • Volunteers: We need help with set-up, serving food, and clean-up after the meal.

  • Food & Supplies: Families are asked to sign up to bring entrées, sides, desserts, drinks, or paper goods (plates, cups, utensils, napkins, etc.).

To make cleanup quick and easy, please bring all food items in disposable pans or trays and, if possible, include disposable serving utensils as well.

Please take a moment to fill out our Thanksgiving Celebration Sign-Up Form to let us know how you can help or what you’ll bring!

Schedule Notes:

  • Bright Beginnings will close at 11:00 a.m. on November 21st.

  • Legacy Academy will dismiss early at 1:00 p.m. following the Thanksgiving Celebration.

Lockesburg Christmas Parade | December 6th

Legacy Academy will once again take part in the Lockesburg Christmas Parade, and this year’s theme is Candyland! We need lots of hands (and sweet ideas!) to make our float shine.

We’re looking for:

  • Parents to help design and decorate our float

  • Students to ride the float and pass out candy

  • A truck and driver to pull the trailer

If you’d like to join the fun, please email Ms. Shelton at susan.shelton@legacymail.org or call the front office. Let’s make this year’s parade the sweetest one yet!

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PAST WEEK:

Legacy Warriors Take the Title at Ball in the Burg!

On Tuesday, October 28th, the Legacy Warriors showed incredible teamwork, determination, and skill as they came out on top to win the Ballin’ the Burg Tournament!

From start to finish, the Warriors brought high energy and focus to every game, showcasing their hard work and dedication. Their impressive performance earned them the championship title and the respect and admiration of everyone in attendance.

A special shoutout also goes to the Legacy Lady Warriors, who battled hard throughout the tournament. Even though they didn’t take home the title this time, they showed tremendous effort, heart, and sportsmanship on the court.

Congratulations to all our athletes, coaches, and supporters for representing Legacy with pride — Go Warriors!

Fourth Grade Field Trip to Old Washington!

Our 4th grade students took a memorable trip to Historic Old Washington this week! They stepped back in time to explore what life was like during the Civil War era, learning firsthand about the people, places, and events that shaped our nation’s history.

Students toured historic buildings, viewed authentic artifacts, and participated in hands-on activities that brought classroom lessons to life. From learning about soldiers’ daily routines to understanding the challenges families faced during the war, our students gained a deeper appreciation for this important period in American history.

It was a wonderful day filled with curiosity, discovery, and meaningful connections to the past. A big thank-you to our teachers, parent volunteers, and the staff at Historic Old Washington for making this experience so special!

Caught in the Act... Of Kindness!

Kindness is contagious—and we’ve got the proof! Check out who’s been ‘caught in the act of kindness’ this week, spreading good vibes all around our school!

Legacy Littles from Bright Beginnings!

Our Legacy Littles from Bright Beginnings are a joyful reminder of God’s faithfulness and the bright future He has planned for our school community. Each child reflects the wonder of His creation and the promise of what is yet to come. We are grateful to walk alongside them as they begin their journey of learning, growing, and living out God’s purpose.

As Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
