LA News -- Week of April 21st

Education Freedom Accounts (EFA) Applications NEED to be COMPLETED ASAP!

Remember that we will accept EFAs as 100% of your tuition obligation next year if you do not qualify for any other assistance. Actual tuition based on true operation costs would be $10,500 annually. However, LA will accept EFA as tuition paid in full. If you qualify for other assistance to cover the additional amount we will help you with those applications. This means we should be able to ensure that not a single LA family has any out-of-pocket tuition expenses! The number of EFAs is not unlimited and over 30,000 Arkansas students have already applied. DO NOT DELAY ANY LONGER. Please complete your application today. The office can help you if needed. If you end up not using it, that's no problem but don't miss the funds available for your student. Families who received EFA for the 2024-2025 school year must still reapply for next year. Families already receiving EFA will need your student(s) individual Student ID Number to complete the application. You can find this on your ClassWallet account.

Capstone Presentations -- Thursday, May 1

On Thursday afternoon, our senior class will present their Capstone project presentations, the pinnacle of their academic journeys in which they demonstrate their ability to learn and master a new skill and to show the stages of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.

Parents, family, and friends are welcome to attend this event at 2:15 pm.

Teacher Appreciation Week -- May 5–9

Let’s show our amazing teachers just how much we appreciate them! Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May 5–9, and it's the perfect time to celebrate the heart of our school—our dedicated educators.

Be on the lookout —the team planning the week's activities will be reaching out to parents soon to help make Teacher Appreciation Week extra special!

Senior Day -- May 7

We’re gearing up for a very special Legacy tradition—Senior Day, happening Wednesday, May 7! This day - and couple leading up to it - will be dedicated to honoring our seniors and celebrating their incredible journey.

The week kicks off with Seniors leading Assembly on Monday, May 5 at 2:15 PM. Parents are warmly invited to attend and share in this meaningful moment.

On Wednesday at 1:30 PM, we’ll hold our much-anticipated Senior Walk, followed by the always-entertaining Roast & Toast and a reception for our Upper Level students.

And of course, Ozzy and Oaklee—true Legacy originals—will be making the rounds, visiting every single classroom over the course of these three days. Having spent their entire educational journey with us, it's been a joy to see them grow into the Warriors they are today.

Benchmark Exams -- May 6-8

Benchmark testing is just around the corner! K-10th grade students will be testing May 6th through 8th, and we want to help them feel confident and ready to do their best.

Families can help by making sure students get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time each day. A little encouragement and a positive attitude go a long way, too!

Thank you for partnering with us to support our students' success!

Water & Field Day – May 9th

Get ready—it’s almost time for one of the most exciting days of the year: Water and Field Day on May 9th! Our students can’t wait to dive into a day packed with outdoor games, friendly competition, and refreshing water activities.

To make this day a splash hit, we need volunteers! If you’re available to help, please contact Ms. Gilmore at lynette.gilmore@legacymail.org.

Beavers Bend Safari Park Field Trip Was a Hit!

On Thursday, April 17th, our K–3rd grade students had an unforgettable adventure at Beaver’s Bend Safari Park in Hochatown, OK!

Students enjoyed a drive-through safari experience where they saw (and fed!) dozens of exotic animals. The hands-on encounters didn’t stop there—they got up close with kangaroos, emus, and even Ronny the Rhino! The walkabout area featured curious primates and playful lemurs, offering even more chances to learn and laugh.

It was a wild day in the best way—filled with discovery, animal facts, and more than a few giggles when some students got slobbered on by llamas or nibbled by an ostrich! A huge thank-you to Mr. and Mrs. Hugghins and the Beaver's Bend Safari Park for making this incredible experience possible!

Athletics Photos are HERE!

See the attached flyer from Lifetouch for instructions on viewing and ordering photos.

Now HIRING Teachers!

We are now hiring additional teachers for Pre-K, Lower Level, and Upper Level Grades for the 2025-26 school year. Is it you? If not, help us find the best fit!

Bus Drivers & Substitutes Needed

We need substitutes who can help fill positions when a teacher is absent. We also need bus drivers to help transport students to athletic events and field trips. Please see the office for details on each of these. Thank you!

Parenting Corner

As parents, we know there are strategic, critical conversations we have with our children throughout their developmental journey that help to shape, form and direct them into new seasons of maturity and growth. What we sometimes fail to recognize is that, during those same times and seasons of engagement and interaction with our children, there are critical conversations we need to be having with ourselves that will serve to shape, form and direct us into new seasons of maturity and development as well. As parents and guardians of His children we should realize that the process of "training up a child in the ways he should go" is as much about our own personal development as it is about the development of our children. With that thought in mind here are 8 reflective questions you can and should engage with to insure that the conversations you have with your children are flowing out of your own personal process of growth and development.

1. What are my parenting goals? What kind of parent do I want to be?

2. Do I reflect and model to my children the qualities I want to see developed in them?

3. Do I speak life and hope to my children or do I speak out of a critical nature?

4. Do I admit my mistakes to my children when I am wrong?

5. Do I know the strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes of my children?

6. Do I spend the "right kind of time", quality time with my family?

7. Do I discipline and correct out of love and patience or out of fear and control?

8. Do I put unrealistic expectations on my children?

Always remember, never stop being a learner! You are doing well, keep going - keep growing!
