Graduation--FRIDAY, 7PM, May 27, 2022

Our second ever Commencement ceremony is happening on Friday evening at 7pm in the LA Gym, to celebrate the graduation Legacy's Class of 2022. It will be a commemoration of their journeys to this point, a chance to honor their faithfulness and academic success, and to send them out into their next phase of life with the blessing and backing of Legacy Academy.

We encourage all of Legacy students and families to attend to make this event memorable for our graduating students, while giving our younger students something to look forward to and set their gaze towards.

Summer Basketball

Summer Basketball Games

This Saturday we have the opportunity to play three boys' basketball games in Hot Springs. If you have not yet replied as to whether or not your players can attend, please contact Mr. Gallagher as soon as possible.

Otter Basketball Camps--June 6th-10th

Legacy is extremely excited to have the Otter basketball camp taking place this summer! Jason Otter is an elite basketball trainer with an impeccable record of helping develop players and programs. The four-day course is usually offered for $575 per camper, but we have been able to negotiate a much reduced rate of only $250 per camper. For this price, players will be able to attend the four-day Otter camp - M-Th June 6-9 - AND the four-week LA basketball camp happening the last two weeks of June and the last two weeks of July.

The Otter camp is open to students who are entering 4th Grade and up; the LA camps are open to students entering 3rd Grade to 9th Grade. Students wishing to attend just the LA camps will have a cost of $20 per week to help cover lunch costs. Please complete the online form to register your interest.

We have had a number of generous offers to help pay for students who might be unable to afford the Otter camp, which will be an invaluable experience for our students. If you are having trouble affording the camp, please contact the office so we can discuss what options we have to help you.

We need all our players there to make it as effective as possible and to give ourselves the best basketball program that we can. If we want to be different, we have to do something different!

Summer Academic Services

As report cards are finished letters will go out regarding any student who is recommended to participate in summer academic tutoring. Parents, please be on the look out for this information.

Summer Facilities Help

Over the summer there will also be a range of work to do, including mowing and weed-eating outside, and a variety of maintenance and housekeeping jobs inside the school. Parent volunteering is one way that we are able to keep tuition costs for the school down, so if you have time, materials, or skills that can be used, please let us know by calling the office (870-642-8937) or emailing Mrs. McCleskey (leslie.mccelskey@legacymail.org).

Hiring & Enrollment

Help us spread the word -- we are enrolling new students at Legacy Academy for all grades, Pre-K to 12th, as well as hiring staff in both teaching and non-teaching roles. If you have friends or family in the area who are looking for alternative educational options, tell them about Legacy - tell them about your experience with at Legacy!

If parents have questions, they can find out more on our website, on our Facebook page, or by emailing academy@legacymail.org.

Application for teaching and support staff roles can be found on the Resources page of our website.

Honor & Awards Ceremony

Legacy Academy recognized its award-winning students in a 2-hour ceremony on Thursday evening, before its students, parents, teachers, friends, and community supporters. The theme of the night was “Joyfully Different”, and Mr. Gallagher exhorted the parents and the students to celebrate the importance of living a Christian life that is contrary to prevailing cultural norms often seen today. The night centered around a celebration of the school’s commitment to the Christian faith and to honoring its values with authentic Christian living.

More than eighty awards and citations of recognition were presented for achievements in sports, academics, and character development, including our Kindergarten graduation. Ethan Gallagher and Gracie Tucker were both presented with the Legacy Honor Award, the highest award a student can receive. Students and teachers alike offered nominations for these two Scholars, for their representation of Christ and Legacy values consistently across all areas of life.

Well done to all recipients!

Lockesburg Clean-up

Legacy Academy students and teachers joined the Sevier County Chamber of Commerce Community Clean-Up day in Lockesburg on Saturday morning, picking up trash, cleaning the cemetery, and working to help the whole community look its best! We love our community and the chance to serve it. Thank you to the Chamber and City of Lockesburg for organizing it all, and to our students who attended!

Legacy requires students to log 400 service hours as a graduation requirement. It's important to learn to build a life of service now. Jesus said, "The greatest among you is the servant of all."
