News -- Week of August 4th

Updated: Aug 5

ree

As we work faithfully towards starting our 18th year, we want you to know that we are praying for you and your families. It is such a joy to get to serve you and your children. Every year brings new faces and changes, but every year God's faithfulness remains! If you know families who would be a great fit for Legacy Academy, talk to them about enrolling. The new EFAs allow families to attend with no out of pocket tuition expenses. Who can you help make LA their school home? We are glad to schedule a tour and visit with them.

THIS WEEK:

  • M, W, F | XC Practice 630am

  • T-Th | Game Days 10am-2pm

  • Curriculum Fees PAST DUE!

NEXT WEEK:

  • Aug 11 | Teachers Return

  • Aug 15 | Legacy Bookclub

  • Aug 15 | EFA Applications CLOSE (PLEASE DO NOT MISS THIS DEADLINE!)

Athletics:

Basketball

It is a dead week this week for basketball. There will be no team workouts. All players are asked to get in the gym at least 2x this week to shoot and do a video workout. Take advantage of the weight room as well. Set a time with your teammates if you don't want to go alone. Contact a coach for gym access.

XC Practice This Week

Cross Country practice is this week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:30 AM sharp! We’re so proud of the commitment you’re showing—early mornings, hard work, and heart—that’s what Legacy athletes are all about.

Now open to 6th grade students! Not on the team yet? This is a great week to jump in! Cross Country is more than running—it’s about perseverance, teamwork, and becoming Warriors who impact the world for Christ, one step at a time.

Game Days

Game Days is the last (and best?) summer camp at Legacy this year! It's way better than just sitting in front of a screen at home. During Game Days, we will be playing everything from card games to tag and from two-player games to party games. Campers will come home with their own deck of cards, the legendary Legacy Playbook, and new excitement to beat everyone they challenge on family night (humbly, of course!).

Come join us for three days of fun and friendly competition August 5-7, this Tuesday through Thursday, from 10am-2pm!

We had an amazing time at Reading Camp! Two mornings flew by with books, games, laughter, and lots of learning. The kids dove into stories, played literacy-themed games, and enjoyed a delicious lunch each day. Thank you for sharing your readers with us—we loved every minute!

Legacy Book Club - Last Day!

Calling all upper-level students! Join us for Legacy Book Club this summer — a time to connect with friends, enjoy great conversation, and dive into some good reads.

We’ll be meeting at Stilwell’s in DeQueen from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on the following Fridays:

  • August 15

Students are welcome to purchase food or drinks at Stilwell’s, but please note that they will be responsible for covering the cost. Transportation will not be provided.

No registration is required — just come ready to hang out and talk books. We hope to see your student there! Mr. Smallwood and Mrs. Spoo are leading the book club and looking forward to the fun hangouts together!

School supply lists are here!

Course Offerings Update:

Beginning this school year, we will be offering a junior/senior-level Consumer Math course as an option for students. We will continue to offer our trigonometry/pre-calculus course, as well. This will allow us flexibility in helping students who are better served in their future by one course or the other. We have always offered a Personal Finance course as an Economics credit. We will continue to offer this economics course with personal finance principles and an expanded entrepreneurship emphasis. The consumer math course will expand our personal finance offering for students with additional hands-on practical life uses and applications, while improving math skills. The course will count as a full Math credit.

Service Hours

Freshman-Seniors can earn service hours working camps and helping with various school tasks. Just call the office to arrange a day to come. There are hours to earn helping with projects on campus, helping in the office, and more!
