Homecoming 2024 is just around the corner - Dec. 5-6!

On Thursday night, Dec. 5th, in conjunction with the annual homecoming bonfire, we will have the first annual LA Warrior Dad/Son Chili Cook-Off. Calling all Dads & Sons, get together and bring your hottest, spiciest, secret ingredient-infused Chili and see how you measure up against the competition.

If Dad isn't available, team up with your grandfather, uncle, or family friend - but whatever you do don't miss the chance to compete against the best Chili makers Legacy Academy has to offer. There will be 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place prizes awarded!

Let us know asap that you will be teaming up and bringing your Chili creation to be a part of the competition on Thursday, December 5th at the Legacy Warriors Homecoming Celebration 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off. Contestants are asked to make approximately 1 crock pot or more for their entry (approximately 8 quarts).

Complete THIS FORM to enter. Include your student's name, his dad or cooking partner's name) and the name of your Chili entry (Be creative!).

Homecoming -- Friday, December 6, 5pm

Rehearsal on Thursday at 6:30pm

We are excited to announce that the Homecoming rehearsal will take place right after the bonfire this Thursday evening. All ladies and their escorts are asked to come prepared for a full dress rehearsal, including shoes and dresses. Your participation is important to ensure a smooth and memorable ceremony.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Friday's Ceremony starts at 5 with games to follow. See you all there!

Lockesburg Christmas Parade -- Saturday, December 7

The Lockesburg Christmas Parade is on Saturday, December 7th. We need help from parents with the float.  We will also need students to ride the float and toss candy in the parade.  Please email office@legacymail.org or call the front office if you can help!

On Thursday, 12/5 immediately after school and before the evening bonfire we will work on the float in the shop. Many hands make light work so please come pitch in and let's get it done quickly and easily!

On the day of the parade, students wanting to ride the float should meet at the Lockesburg fire station at 2:20 pm and the parade begins at 3 pm.

Picture Retakes -- Monday, December 9

Picture retakes are on Monday, December 9th! Plan to send your students picture-ready if they were absent on picture day or need a retake. If you ordered and received a print package and need picture retakes you may send the prints back to school with your student and receive a replacement for free. Otherwise, you will have to pay for a new package. Please contact the front office with any questions.

Absence Policy: A Reminder

Parents, absenteeism is the greatest predictor of academic struggles. In addition, state law requires that compulsory attendance and the reporting of absences. Please be reminded of our absenteeism policies and procedures.

-If a student is going to be absent on a particular day, parents are required to call the school office by 7:55 a.m. and give a reason for the absence so teachers can be Informed and plan accordingly. Parents should not call or email the teacher during class time to notify them of absence, tardiness, or requests for make-up work. Requests for make-up work should also be submitted to the front office and picked up at the end of the day to allow teachers the opportunity to gather the work when they have finished with class.

-Excused absences are those that occur for the following reasons: personal illness, death in the family, family emergency, or absences approved in advance. Although we give serious consideration to the various circumstances for absences, the school ultimately decides whether an absence is excused or not. Submitting a doctor’s note to the front office is one way to request an excuse for an absence, but it does not guarantee approval. Students with unexcused absences may not be granted full credit for their make-up work.

Thanks in advance for helping ensure students miss as little school as possible and are here on time.

Service Hours Opportunity

There is an off-campus service hours opportunity with the Salvation Army to ring their bell for their annual charity drive. See Mr. Smallwood if you’d like to register. Information is being sent home with students.

Bus Drivers & Substitutes Needed

We need substitutes who can help fill positions when a teacher is absent. We also need bus drivers to help transport students to athletic events and field trips. Please see the office for details on each of these. Thank you!
