Picture Retakes -- Monday, December 9

Picture retakes are on Monday, December 9th! Plan to send your students picture-ready if they were absent on picture day or need a retake. If you ordered and received a print package and need picture retakes you may send the prints back to school with your student and receive a replacement for free. Otherwise, you will have to pay for a new package. Please contact the front office with any questions.

Christmas Program -- Rehearsals

Parents, we are thrilled to invite you to our exciting Christmas Program on Thursday, December 19, at 6:30 PM! This special event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the God sending His son, Jesus to the earth to rescue us together as a community. Students should arrive by 6:00 PM and gather on the home side of the bleachers. Attendance is required, and students must wear their formal uniform and shoes for this meaningful event. Any additional costume instructions for those in the skit will be shared with you next week.

We look forward to honoring the true reason for the season and showcasing the hard work our students have put into this performance!

Christmas Service Project -- Friday, December 20

The Christmas Service Project is just around the corner! It will occur on December 20 at 12:30 PM in the Legacy Academy auditorium.

This year we are doing something a little different. We will open the school to community servants (first responders, volunteer firefighters) and to local senior citizens. They are invited to join us for an afternoon of service, where they can bring gifts for our students to wrap, have their cars vacuumed, play games, and enjoy some treats. We ask each family to bring 1 dozen cookies, 1 roll of wrapping paper, and a roll of tape. Please send these items to school with your student by December 16.

Absence Policy: A Reminder

Parents, absenteeism is the greatest predictor of academic struggles. In addition, state law requires compulsory attendance and absences reporting. Please be reminded of our absenteeism policies and procedures.

-If a student is going to be absent on a particular day, parents are required to call the school office by 7:55 a.m. and give a reason for the absence so teachers can be Informed and plan accordingly. Parents should not call or email the teacher during class time to notify them of absence, tardiness, or requests for make-up work. Requests for make-up work should also be submitted to the front office and picked up at the end of the day to allow teachers the opportunity to gather the work when they have finished with class.

-Excused absences are those that occur for the following reasons: personal illness, death in the family, family emergency, or absences approved in advance. Although we give serious consideration to the various circumstances for absences, the school ultimately decides whether an absence is excused or not. Submitting a doctor’s note to the front office is one way to request an excuse for an absence, but it does not guarantee approval. Students with unexcused absences may not be granted full credit for their make-up work.

Thanks in advance for helping ensure students miss as little school as possible and are here on time.

Homecoming was a Success!

Thanks to everyone who made Homecoming a success. The bonfire was a blast and congrats to Ozzy Toledano and Mr. Smallwood on winning the Chili Cook-off Contest! Congratulations are also in order for Oaklee Lofton, as she was crowned Homecoming Queen on Friday night. The girls had a very special mom/daughter day thanks to our hard-working Homecoming team. Both senior teams got a win Friday night, and the Lockesburg parade on Saturday was a success with a third-place showing. Thank you to everyone who made it a special week!

Parenting Corner

2 Corinthians 10:12 provides us with an extremely important truth, especially as it relates to raising our children in a world that is driven by appearance, acceptance and approval. This article from the Ed Tech Times offers an antidote and alternative to the unwise practice of constantly comparing ourselves among ourselves.

"... But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding.

...the desire to emulate what others have can lead to feelings of envy or inadequacy. Gratitude offers an antidote to this cycle. By focusing on what they already have supportive friends, opportunities to learn, or personal strengths—students can shift from comparison to contentment. This simple practice helps them see abundance rather than scarcity.

Gratitude transforms the way students view others—not as rivals but as inspirations—helping them build stronger, more supportive communities both online and offline.

This perspective also counters the deep human tendency to imitate others' desires. Social media often magnifies this instinct, making students feel they need to chase the same goals or appearances as everyone else. Gratitude disrupts this cycle by helping them recognize their own path and appreciate what truly matters.

As students practice gratitude, they develop resilience against the pressures of comparison, cultivating a mindset of connection and self-worth that can thrive in the digital age."

Parents, help your children develop strength and confidence in who they are as unique expressions of God's creative heart.

Bus Drivers & Substitutes Needed

We need substitutes who can help fill positions when a teacher is absent. We also need bus drivers to help transport students to athletic events and field trips. Please see the office for details on each of these. Thank you!
