Teacher Appreciation Week -- May 5–9

Let’s show our amazing teachers just how much we appreciate them! Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May 5–9, and it's the perfect time to celebrate the heart of our school—our dedicated educators.

We’re kicking off Teacher Appreciation Week with a special surprise—and we need your help!

Monday, May 5th, please send your child to school with a wildflower or a flower from your garden. We’ll be gathering all the blooms to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind bouquets for our amazing teachers!

No need to purchase anything—just a single flower from nature or your backyard is perfect.

Your child can also bring a thank you note to let their teacher know how much they’re appreciated.

Let’s make next Monday a blooming celebration of all the wonderful things our teachers do!

Senior Day -- May 7

We’re gearing up for a very special Legacy tradition—Senior Day, happening Wednesday, May 7! This day—and the couple of days leading up to it—will be dedicated to honoring our seniors and celebrating their incredible journey.

Monday, May 5 at 2:15 PM: The week kicks off with Seniors leading Assembly. As part of the Senior Assembly, we will also hold our first induction ceremony for our new chapter of the National Honor Society for senior members—this special recognition acknowledges their academic achievement, as well as their leadership, character, and service throughout their time at Legacy. Parents are warmly invited to attend and share in this meaningful moment.

Wednesday at 1:30 PM: We’ll hold our much-anticipated Senior Walk, followed by the always-entertaining Roast & Toast and a reception for our Upper Level students.

These seniors—true Legacy originals—will be making the rounds, visiting every single classroom over the course of these three days. Having spent their entire educational journey with us, it's been a joy to see them grow into the Warriors they are today.

Benchmark Exams -- May 6-8

Benchmark testing is just around the corner! K-10th grade students will be testing May 6th through 8th, and we want to help them feel confident and ready to do their best.

Families can help by making sure students get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time each day. A little encouragement and a positive attitude go a long way, too!

Thank you for partnering with us to support our students' success!

Water & Field Day -- May 9th

Get ready—it’s almost time for one of the most exciting days of the year: Water and Field Day on May 9th! Our students can’t wait to dive into a day packed with outdoor games, friendly competition, and refreshing water activities.

To make this day a splash hit, we need volunteers! If you’re available to help, please contact Ms. Gilmore at lynette.gilmore@legacymail.org.

Also, we could use some shade! If you have a pop-up canopy we’d love to borrow it for the day. Let us know if you have one we can use!

Atheltics Banquet -- May 15th

Join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of our student-athletes at the annual Athletics Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 15 at 6:00 PM in the Legacy Academy Auditorium.

We can’t wait to honor our athletes’ hard work and dedication at this special event! Each athlete will receive complimentary tickets for their parents. Due to limited seating, any additional guests must purchase a ticket in advance for $12 each. Tickets must be purchased in person at the front office by Monday, May 6. No tickets will be sold at the door.

We kindly ask that all tickets be reserved or purchased by the deadline so we can ensure accurate food counts. We can’t wait to honor our Warriors' hard work and dedication at this special event!

Athletics Photos are HERE!

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Deal!

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of two tiny warriors! Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Deal on the birth of their sweet twin boys, Richard Alton and Theodore Ezra born on April 11, 2025.

Please join us in celebrating this wonderful blessing and welcoming the newest little members of our Legacy family!

Spring Formal -- a night to remember!

What a magical night! On Saturday, April 26th, our 9th–12th grade students (along with some brave and boogie-ready parents) gathered at the East Room in downtown De Queen for an unforgettable Spring Formal. The evening was filled with dancing, laughter, and plenty of amazing food—including catering from Roadhouse and popsicles from La Vaquita that were a huge hit! A big thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a special night. From the planning team to the parents who joined in the fun, it truly was an evening to remember!

Now HIRING Teachers!

We are now hiring additional teachers for Pre-K, Lower Level, and Upper Level Grades for the 2025-26 school year. Is it you? If not, help us find the best fit!

Bus Drivers & Substitutes Needed

We need substitutes who can help fill positions when a teacher is absent. We also need bus drivers to help transport students to athletic events and field trips. Please see the office for details on each of these. Thank you!

Please complete your 25-26 EFA Application

Remember that we will accept EFAs as 100% of your tuition obligation next year if you do not qualify for any other assistance. Actual tuition based on true operation costs would be $10,500 annually. However, LA will accept EFA as tuition paid in full. If you qualify for other assistance to cover the additional amount we will help you with those applications. This means we should be able to ensure that not a single LA family has any out-of-pocket tuition expenses! The number of EFAs is not unlimited and over 30,000 Arkansas students have already applied. DO NOT DELAY ANY LONGER. Please complete your application today. The office can help you if needed. If you end up not using it, that's no problem but don't miss the funds available for your student. Families who received EFA for the 2024-2025 school year must still reapply for next year. Families already receiving EFA will need your student(s) individual Student ID Number to complete the application. You can find this on your ClassWallet account.

Parenting Corner

As we come to the close of another school year, some of our students, along with students all across the country, are preparing to embark on a new season of life and growth. As parents there is much we want for our children and yet we know that so much of their future will be determined and defined by the personal choices they make moving forward. There are practical things, as well as deeply personal things, we want our children to be reminded of as they embark on their Grand Adventure. Here are a few you can pass along to them in the coming weeks…

1. Know Who You Are – Know Whose You Are - There’s no magic, one-size-fits-all solution for building a happy, healthy, and productive life. The key to knowing who you are is by knowing whose you are. The better we know the one who made us the better we know ourselves, the more readily we will discover a life that will work for us. God has an architecture for life and He invites us to discover and walk in His ways daily.

2. Beware of Drift - “Drift” are the decisions we make by not deciding, or by making a decision that unleashes consequences for which we don’t take responsibility. Drift happens when the perceived freedom of “adulthood” causes us to move away from our core values and beliefs.

3. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good - Perfection is not the goal – progress and development into better versions of ourselves is. God has promised to journey with us, partner with us in this thing called life and He has promised that He will never leave us or forsake along the way. He is committed to our growth and maturity as His children

4. Write (and re-write) your own set of personal values and beliefs - One of the most challenging—and most helpful exercises is to distill your core values and hopes for yourself into a succinct list, so that they’re very clearly in your mind. And then you can re-visit them periodically, so you can update them as you grow older and your life changes. This is not a checklist of things to do, it is a working definition of who we want to be.

5. Identify the problem - This idea seems obvious but often is an overlooked insight. Be courageous enough to ask yourself, “What’s bugging me? Why is something not working? What’s the problem here?” There isn’t always an easy, dramatic solution, but nevertheless, it helps to distinguish between the source of the problem and the symptoms of the problem.

6. Take care of your body: exercise regularly, get enough sleep - Our physical experience always colors our emotional and intellectual experience. If we’re feeling exhausted or sluggish, it’s hard to be happy and productive. Get enough sleep and exercise, and you’ll find it much easier to be happier, healthier, more productive, and more creative.

7. Don’t expect to be motivated by motivation - In fact, people aren’t motivated by motivation. We should think about aims and goals and then take concrete, practical, realistic steps to take us closer to our goals.

8. Give time and energy to keep relationships strong - The most essential key to happiness is strong relationships with other people. We need enduring, intimate bonds; we need to feel like we belong; we need to be able to confide; we need to be able to get and give support. Show me your friends and I will show you your future.

9. Don’t ignore the warnings – Pay attention to your heart, your inward emotions. Don’t gaslight yourself or others. Deal honestly with the difficulties of life. Negative emotions warn us that something needs to change.

10. Remember, everyone makes mistakes - Everyone makes mistakes; it’s inevitable.  Don’t let your mistakes and poor choices define you – let them instruct you and lead you to a new place of discovery and growth.

Let’s be diligent to pray for our graduates and their families as they walk this road of transition with their children. These should be exciting days filled with reminders of God’s faithfulness in the past and His promises for the future.
