Lockesburg Christmas Parade -- Saturday, December 7
The Lockesburg Christmas Parade is on Saturday, December 7th. We need a couple of parent volunteers to join together to plan and coordinate a float for Legacy Academy. We will also need students to ride the float and toss candy in the parade. Please email office@legacymail.org or call the front office if you can help! Next week's newsletter will include any final instructions for the day of the parade.
Picture Retakes -- Monday December 9
Picture retakes are on Monday, December 9th! Plan to send your students picture-ready if they were absent on picture day or need a retake. If you ordered and received a print package and need picture retakes you may send the prints back to school with your student and receive a replacement for free. Otherwise, you will have to pay for a new package. Please contact the front office with any questions.
Absence Policy: A Reminder
Parents, absenteeism is the greatest predictor of academic struggles. In addition, state law requires that compulsory attendance and the reporting of absences. Please be reminded of our absenteeism policies and procedures.
-If a student is going to be absent on a particular day, parents are required to call the school office by 7:55 a.m. and give a reason for the absence so teachers can be Informed and plan accordingly. Parents should not call or email the teacher during class time to notify them of absence, tardiness, or requests for make-up work. Requests for make-up work should also be submitted to the front office and picked up at the end of the day to allow teachers the opportunity to gather the work when they have finished with class.
-Excused absences are those that occur for the following reasons: personal illness, death in the family, family emergency, or absences approved in advance. Although we give serious consideration to the various circumstances for absences, the school ultimately decides whether an absence is excused or not. Submitting a doctor’s note to the front office is one way to request an excuse for an absence, but it does not guarantee approval. Students with unexcused absences may not be granted full credit for their make-up work.
Thanks in advance for helping ensure students miss as little school as possible and are here on time.

Parenting Corner
As you begin your preparations for the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends make sure you take time to focus and prepare your heart to fully recognize and offer to God an offering of thanks for His faithfulness in the life of your family over the past year. Scripture teaches us that the giving of thanks is a tangible way that we can open the windows of heaven and allow His light and life to shine into our lives.
Romans 1:18-21 NKJV
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
As you engage in all the holiday activities, it would be a great time to hit the reset button in your heart and determine that going forward, you are going to faithfully and consistently keep the windows of your heart open with thankfulness and gratitude to God, glorifying Him as your God. The promise of God is that if we will purpose to keep the windows open with thankfulness, He will shine His light and life into our lives, bringing us His thoughts that are full of purpose and direction and that our hearts will be full of light that will dispel the darkness of a world that seems to be getting darker and darker all around us.
Suppression leads to Depression
Celebration leads to Revelation
Let the celebration begin each day by offering to God a heart of thankfulness and praise!
Have a blessed and joy-filled holiday! We are so thankful for each of you, our Legacy Academy Family!
Bus Drivers & Substitutes Needed
We need substitutes who can help fill positions when a teacher is absent. We also need bus drivers to help transport students to athletic events and field trips. Please see the office for details on each of these. Thank you!
