News | Week of May 4th

Founder's Note: It's Senior Week!

What a joy it is to begin our Senior Celebration. From now until commencement, our seniors are in the spotlight. Monday is Senior Assembly. At Senior Assembly, seniors share about their time at Legacy Academy and pass on their wisdom to the student body. It's always a special time. This year, Legacy Academy's Upper Level Choir will share a worship song with us. It will be a special time at 2:20 pm on Monday. I hope we see you there. On Wednesday at 1 pm, we will have a reception and the Senior Roast and Toast. It's a fun time where Upper Level students share their favorite memories of our seniors. It is an exciting season as we celebrate the end of one chapter and launch them into a new season of life. In no time, we will see even our youngest students reach these milestones. Join us from now until the end of the year as we celebrate together and cherish these special moments!

Senior Days | May 4-6

Senior Week is here, and we are excited to celebrate our graduating seniors during one of Legacy Academy’s favorite traditions of the year!

From May 4–6, the seniors will spend time visiting classrooms, participating in activities with students, sharing memories, and enjoying special moments during their final days at Legacy.

The celebration continues on Wednesday, May 6 at 1:00 PM with the annual Senior Roast & Toast — an afternoon filled with hilarious stories, unforgettable memories, playful roasting, heartfelt encouragement, and lots of laughter. Students and teachers will share favorite moments while celebrating the unique personalities and impact James and Skylar have had on our school community. Junior parents will also be hosting a special reception for the event.

To close out the festivities, the seniors will take part in the Senior Walk and Hallway Sprint as students line the halls for high-fives, cheers, music, and one final victory lap through Legacy Academy. We are so proud of our seniors and grateful for the joy, leadership, and memories they have brought to Legacy over the years!

Senior Assembly --Monday, 2:15 pm

This week’s Weekly Assembly will be a special Senior Assembly as we take time to hear from our graduating seniors. During the assembly, seniors will each share reflections on their time at Legacy Academy — including the impact their experience has had on them, lessons they’ve learned, favorite memories, encouragement for younger students, and thoughts as they prepare for their next season of life. It will be a meaningful opportunity for our school community to celebrate all God has done in and through them during their years at Legacy.

Assembly will take place Monday at 2:15 PM as usual, and parents and family members are always welcome to attend. We would love for you to join us for this special time.

Upcoming Events

Water Day | May 15th

Get ready—it’s almost time for one of the most exciting days of the year: Water Day on May 15th! Our students can’t wait to dive into a day packed with outdoor games, friendly competition, and refreshing water activities.

To make this day a splash hit, we are seeking volunteers to help with set up, running games, serving lunch, and cleaning up! If you’re available to help, please contact Ms. Gilmore at lynette.gilmore@legacymail.org.

Also, we could use some shade! If you have a pop-up canopy we’d love to borrow it for the day. Let us know if you have one we can use!

"What will my student need for water day?"

Glad you asked!

  • Sunscreen

    • Please apply before school and send the bottle with your student for all-day use. We will have reminders to reapply throughout the day and teachers to help littles. Please write your student(s) name on the bottle!

  • Towel

    • Microfiber towels do not fair well on water day, FYI! Please be sure to write your child's name on the towel.

  • Water Shoes

    • No flip-flops. Students will need shoes that can get wet and muddy, but will stay on their feet for running and game activities. We recommend river shoes or sandals that strap in the back.

  • Uniform bottoms/pants

    • Students will receive a Water Day t-shirt to wear. They should wear uniform bottoms with these. Again, we recommend something that can get wet and muddy! Students are not permitted to wear athletics shorts, swim trunks, or other street clothes.

  • Water Bottle

    • We will have frequent water breaks and remind students to hydrate throughout the day. This is much easier when students have a water bottle that they can keep close by! Please write your student's name on their water bottle!

  • Dry set of clothes

    • Students will be permitted to change into clean, dry clothes before they leave at the end of the day. These do not have to be uniform clothes -- just some dry, appropriate street clothes to go home in!

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PAST WEEK

Mid-America Science Museum Field Trip

Our 8th grade students had a fantastic time on their field trip to the Mid-America Science Museum this week!

Students spent the day exploring hands-on exhibits, interactive science experiences, engineering concepts, and creative problem-solving activities while learning in a fun and engaging environment outside the classroom. From experimenting with physics and motion to exploring technology and innovation, the day was filled with curiosity, laughter, and discovery.

Field trips like these are such a valuable opportunity for students to connect classroom learning to real-world experiences, build friendships, and create lasting memories together. Thank you to everyone who helped make the trip possible and to our students for representing Legacy Academy so well throughout the day!

HCAA State Track Meet

Our team traveled to the HCAA State Track Meet on May 2 and showed up ready to compete. We saw a lot of PRs and brought home several medals. James Bartek led the senior boys with a 3rd place finish in shot put, 6th in high jump, and 8th in the 100m, and Libbie Bartek placed 7th in shot put for the senior girls. Izzy Ward, Myleigh Fry, and Addy Carrell all added strong finishes, and both of our 4x100 relay teams placed. Our junior girls also stepped up, with Hannah Grace Lofton taking 4th in the 1600. It was a strong finish to the season, and we are proud of the way our athletes competed!

Wellness Challenge Final Stretch!

With only TWO WEEKS left in the Legacy Health Challenge, the finish line is officially in sight! Students and teachers have been working hard to build healthier habits, practice discipline, and learn what it means to steward their bodies well. We are proud of the consistency, growth, and perseverance we’ve seen across every house.

The final House Challenge winner will be announced during Water Day on May 15, and the competition is still close! Every workout, healthy choice, hydration check, journal entry, and act of discipline counts as we finish strong together.

As we head into the last stretch, we want to encourage families to keep cheering students on at home. The goal has never just been points — it’s about building tools, habits, self-control, and awareness that can last a lifetime.

Did You Know? Research shows that regular movement and exercise don’t just strengthen muscles — they also improve memory, focus, mood, sleep quality, and stress management. Even short bursts of activity throughout the day can help students perform better academically and emotionally.

Family Wellness Tip: Take a 10–15 minute family walk after dinner this week — no phones, just conversation and movement together. Even light movement after meals can help with digestion, blood sugar regulation, stress relief, and better sleep. Small, consistent habits really do make a difference over time.

“Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” — Hebrews 12:1

Don’t Miss Your EFA Renewal!

Time is ticking! Make sure to renew your EFA application as soon as possible to avoid any interruptions in your benefits. Renewing early ensures you stay covered and keeps your application on track—don’t wait until the last minute!

Please Note:

  • A separate survey is required for each student account if you have multiple students in EFA.

  • You will be asked to confirm next year’s grade level and school.

  • All questions must be completed before submitting the survey.

New EFA Applicants

Students who are new to the EFA program must complete an application through FACTS. If you need assistance with the renewal or application process, please contact Mrs. Hernandez or Mrs. Kesterson in the front office.

Re-Enrollment for 2026–2027 is now open!

We are already prayerfully planning for the 2026–2027 school year and would love to know your family’s intentions. If you anticipate your student returning to Legacy Academy, please take a moment to complete the Re-Enrollment Application by March 6th. Your response helps us plan effectively for classes, staffing, and resources. We are grateful for your continued partnership!

Make it a WIN-WIN: If a new family enrolls new students and lists you as the referral reason they are applying, then you will receive a $250 credit in the Warrior Shop for the next school year!

We are Hiring!

For NEXT YEAR: We are looking to add teachers in the Upper Level and Lower Level. We

are also hiring an additional para-professional to tutor in the Empowerment Lab.
