Thanksgiving Feast -- Thursday, 11am

Join us Thursday, November 21st @ 11:00 for a shared meal, yard games, and fellowship.

Watch out for information from your House Stewards for how to contribute.

  • Families are asked to contribute to the potluck, bringing their dish/food in a disposable container. LA will not be responsible for cleaning nor returning dishes.

  • Families are encouraged to bring yard games to be enjoyed by all. Families will be responsible for the set-up and clean-up of their games.

Baking Contest!

Moms & Daughters are encouraged to bake a homemade dessert in our first-ever Mother-Daughter Baking Contest held in conjunction with our LA Thanksgiving Feast!  You must bake it together yourselves. It must be homemade! There will be ribbons and prizes for the Best Cake, the Best Pie, the Best Cookies,  and the Best Cobbler. There will also be a special award for the Most Beautiful Presentation!

There will be a check-in station when you arrive and your dessert will be assigned a # and given a tag to put your # and the type of dessert it is.

We have teachers who are happy to enter for any girl who wants to bake for the contest, but mom is not available.

Contact Mrs. Nix (teresa.nix@legacymail.org) for more information!

WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR?

Each House will hand out Leaves for families to share who, what, or whatever they are Grateful for.  Start making a list with your children and help us FILL THE TREE!

Service Hours Opportunity

There is an off-campus service hours opportunity with the Salvation Army to ring their bell for their annual charity drive. See Mr. Smallwood if you’d like to register. Information is being sent home with students.

Parenting Corner

As we enter this season of Thanksgiving let's take time to look a little deeper into the power and purpose of true thanksgiving in the heart of the child of God. More than a prayer before a meal or a day set aside and celebrated once a year, the Scripture would teach us that thanksgiving is a certain lifestyle that is the fruit of an internal position and posture of our heart in the presence of our God. Here is what the Paul the Apostle taught us concerning a thankful lifestyle:

"In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

I Thessalonians 5:18

Over the next few weeks let's take time to consider new ways we can bring a spirit and lifestyle of thanksgiving into our homes and families.

  • Thanksgiving is our weapon against doubt, lack of faith, loss of focus, loss of confidence, uncertainty in God as God. The doubting do not give thanks.

  • Thanksgiving is a deep spiritual principle and internal posture with shape, form and value connected to honoring God as God.

  • Thanksgiving is acknowledging that God’s grace functions well.

  • Thanksgiving inoculates us from the deadly toxins released by our flesh to destroy our joy and our journey in God.

  • Thanksgiving is spiritual intuition and discernment, not just an emotional eruption.

Our Prayer:

Father, as we enter this season of thanksgiving we ask You to help us look deeper into our hearts and our relationship with You. Help is to see ways that our lives have become contaminated with things like anger, doubt, worry, fear and unbelief and then we ask You to help us by Your Grace to turn our hearts to a place of surrender, humility and trust as we confess and honor You as God, not just for a day, but as the way we choose to live every day of our lives. In Jesus name. Amen.

Homecoming Events 12/5-6

Save the Date now for our Homecoming events. Homecoming will be at 5pm on Friday, December 6th. Our school-wide Homecoming Bonfire will be held on Thursday, 12/5. We will serve hot dogs and the night will include a Dad/Son Chili Cook-off Contest. Dads/Sons (can be grandfathers, uncles, etc) are encouraged to team up and enter a chili into the contest. There will be awards and prizes! It's going to be epic. More details will be sent out next week. Sign up in the office if you are entering a team in the cook-off.

Picture Retakes, Monday 12/9

Picture retakes are on Monday, December 9th! Plan to send your students picture-ready if they were absent on picture day or need a retake. If you ordered and received a print package and need picture retakes you may send the prints back to school with your student and receive a replacement for free. Otherwise, you will have to pay for a new package. Please contact the front office with any questions.

Bus Drivers & Substitutes Needed

We need substitutes who can help fill positions when a teacher is absent. We also need bus drivers to help transport students to athletic events and field trips. Please see the office for details on each of these. Thank you!
